Official Conference Hotels

Other Local Hotels

  • Hotel Pacific - My favorite Monterey hotel!  Just across the street from the conference center, so it is really convenient. I stay here whenever I am in the area. The rooms are like suites (with living and dining areas -- if they have added a microwave oven to the rooms since the last time I've been there, they'd qualify as apartments!)  This is not a low budget option, but rates are comparable to the conference hotels. (Eloisa)
  • Holiday Inn Express, Cannery Row: I stayed here last year. It is about a one mile walk from the Holiday Inn to the conference venue, which was invigorating at eight in the morning and irksome at midnight (or later...). It's a standard hotel, and I had no complaints. The chief virtue of the place is the free wifi. The rates on the Holiday Inn page are higher than I remember paying last year when I booked through Expedia or Travelocity. - SteveLawson -- I've never been to Monterey. The morning walk sounds fine, but are threre cabs available at night? (Arlene)
  • Best Western Monterey Beach Resort Possibly the best-kept secret of IL-ers who need their quiet time. This is a lovely 2 1/2 mile walk up the Recreation Trail from the Conference Center. Make reservations thru Expedia.com or other booking agent and the rates are cheaper than the conference hotels. Besides, you're on the ocean! - I've stayed here for years and location is great, plus they allow dogs on the ground floor! (Rachel)
  • Has anyone ever stayed at the Merritt House Inn which is supposedly near the conference center? Both conference hotels were sold out for the night of October 23, so I'm moving to the inn for a couple of nights. Hope it's as nice as it looks. Merritt House Inn
  • I found the Monterey Hotel, which is right by the convention center, but surprisingly, it is not listed in the Convention Authority's list of local accommodations. It looks pretty nice. I am wondering if anyone knows anything about it? - I have stayed there once and its a very nice smaller hotel; looks alot like a B&B with small rooms and a vintage feel. I'm not sure it had air conditioning since it is older and I think it had no elevator so that could be a consideration if it's hot and someone has mobility issues (Rachel).

  • Borg's Motel in Pacific Grove (5 minute drive from conference center) has reasonable rates and ocean views.   -----  I wouldn't recommend staying at the Borg - you get a lot of traffic noise, the front-desk person isn't available at many hours, the furnishings remind me of a 1960s run-down spare room my family has, and the bed sunk into the floor.  Bathroom had, err, cleanliness issues.  Despite the cool StarTrek name, I don't recommend staying here.  (Sarah Houghton-Jan)
  • Del Monte Pines - This cute motel is located 1 mile from the Conference Center.  It has free Wi fi, free parking, free continental breakfast (juice, coffee, pastries and fruit), as well as being across the street from the Del Monte Shopping Center.  I'm on a pretty skimpy budget, so this place is great for those who also cannot afford the more expensive places but are still looking for something nicer than a Motel 8.
  • Check out the Colton Inn. This hotel is in walking distance of the conference center and all of the amenities that you'll want to see downtown. It's inexpensive yet still is comfortable. We stay there whenever we go to Monterey.
